Ways to make Get Satisfaction easier to find on Quirky
Get satisfaction Seems buried. I think it should be linked in the list under "Forum" in the top left of the website (where you access your account stuffs). Also, I think when people navigate to the community forum they should be presented with a giant "GET SATISFACTION - Quirky support. Submit questions, problems, share ideas and give praise when praise is due." navigational button at the top. There are a lot of "we have that, it's GS" an "you should post that on GS" comments. OOOOOooooooh! You could even have a button on the forum that transposes what was written there to a GS form that you can then complete and submit. That last part is just me wanting to be lazy, but other people would actually participate more in this if it was that easy (you'd be surprised by the amount of people who still don't know how to cmd+c and cmd+v).

Thanks for your ideas! We want to make Get Satisfaction a one-stop shop for people with questions, problems, suggestions and umm, praise (hopeful look).
Please keep this convo going and ask fellow Quirks to jump in. I want to hear all the ways that we can make the support forum easier to find and use. -

Agreed. We would love to get more people on our support forum! Right now, we're testing all the parts of user experience to figure out what needs to make more sense. Making it easier to give feedback is one of our priorities and will be addressed.

I agree that the Get Satisfaction "button" or tag should be easily assessable. As Andrew said I have had a hell of a time finding it before.

The problem with this is:
The heading is "Forum."
Then the body style text directly under the heading describes the heading... as it should, but this is not where one would EXPECT to be directed to a place not the forum, and in fact another website altogether.
Then, it has an ambiguous link (says nothing about GS), mostly just looks like a "mailto:" link. Many people outright ignore mailto links because it runs a script to open an Email Client they don't have set up for email. I use an Email Client, but I almost always ignore mailto links because they usually send you to "nobody particularly helpful."
Furthermore, the link itself is not prominent - it's just kinda tucked in there. Hidden in plain sight. It's there, but it's useless if people don't notice it AND know wtf they should expect it to do.
It's a bit of an odd place to put the link as it does not fit the subject heading "Forum," unless! you say something like, "This is a forum for our community to get together, and chat a bit... or a lot. If you're looking for Quirky support, head on over to our Get Satisfaction Support Forum" Even with this added clarity, it still doesn't make the link itself prominent enough.
Also, I recommend never referring to GS without calling it your "Support Forum." As a newbie, I often heard/read people tell other to "get satisfaction." I thought it was a bit odd, after a while I realized this might be... like... a thing... and not... a command. Usually, support is done in house. Yours is not. That should be more clear with every reference to your support... forum (see how easy it was?). -

Well, you say "go to get satisfaction," and then you have a link called "contact us." Maybe you should stop calling it GS or change the name of your link to "Get Satisfaction" or "Contact Us: 'Get Satisfaction' " and it should be at the top of every forum page and an obnoxiously huge button instead of hypertext. I never saw it before you pointed it out just now... and I annoy my friends with my attention to detail.

Maybe beside the word Feedback you could say (Get Satisfaction) because there isn't an easy way of knowing. Also when you click on Community page put a button to it there, too

I am really sudsingsk at the mouth today. Would it be difficult to put a link to Get Satisfaction on our sign-on drop down list (where all our other links are)????? suds...suds...suds.

Add new sign-on drop down menu item........."Get Satisfaction".-
Maybe change the list from "Forum" to "Community Forum" and add a "Support Forum" link directly underneath that.

Steven, thanks, I'm adding that suggestion to the list of ideas for where we can add links to GS.

Put the support link on the quirky site, I can't find it unless I get an email from you...am I missing it somewhere not convenient?

Support link on the top of the quirky page in forums.. -

I think the #1 most helpful way would be to have Get Satisfaction as its own Forum topic Area ( I know this has been suggested)~ you could make the heading purple or something to differentiate it. Then when you click or scroll down to it,it links you exactly to here, everything else could stay the same. That way people could find it.

Absolutely. The long term plan is to bring the support forum on-site. That solution will take time though.

You can still add a link Shirley, it take 2 minutes to put a link on the community page to get to this page...running a software company myself, it' very simple and easy to do....there must be another reason you don't want it there, or it would have been done awhile ago....

Right now, there is a link at the top of the forum (see screenshot in response above). We're figuring out where else it makes sense to add links. I agree it can be easier to find. The hold up isn't the time it takes to add a link, it's deciding where to put them. I'd love for more people to come here!

It's not on my page Shirley, it's blank, I use FF, what browser are you in??

It's in the Overview tab only (and yes, I would like to add it to the other tabs if we get the ok).

Oh, I didn't go there! That's why! Ok, makes sense, if it could be on all pages, that would help, but I am glad to know where it is for myself! Thanks

Definitely have a link that says "GET SATISFACTION" (and have a blurb about what it is). Having it say "contact us" makes me think that I am sending you an email. The only way I know how to get to Get Satisfaction is by typing it into my browser and it is a pain to have to do that and then log in to it. People are missing out on this website.

Why not eliminate Get Satisfaction altogether? Isn't it a third-party website all of its own? It seems like it duplicates many of the same forum subjects on the basic Quirky website, and it has more details and summaries that anyone would care to know.
On the main Quirky page is:
Shop Invent Influence Learn Community Blog
I would add one more category, that being: Forums
Shop Invent Influence Learn Community Forums Blog
(community could be used solely for Ideators profiles)
Currently in the Community Forum Overview is the list:
Free-For-All
Products
Process
Community
Site/Tech
Tips & Tricks
Rants & Raves
What could be merged into that list are some of the Get Satisfaction categories of:
Ideas
Suggestions
Problems
Praise
I would rename Free-For-All to Personal and move it to the bottom of the list. In the definition it says this is for Quirky topics, past and present. At lot of times the poster is not discussing Quirky at all. Free-For-All in other forums usually means any miscellaneous thing you want to comment about that is NOT specifically website related.
________________________________________________________
Under FORUMS, my suggestion for categories is, and I would include the definition right below it so posters would submit their comments in the right categories:
General Discussion
. Discuss anything you want about Quirky.
Products
. Talk about our stuff and the process of making that stuff.
Process
. Earning influence, casting votes, rating ideas, and all that jazz.
Site/Tech
. Ideas and suggestions for the tech team.
Ideas
. Share an idea with the general community.
Questions
. Describe your question. (for a specific question resolution use Quirky CONTACT US.
Problems
. Describe your problem. (for a specific problem resolution use Quirky CONTACT US.
Tips & Tricks
. People helping people, that's what it's all about.
Rants & Raves
. Speak now, or forever hold your peace.
Personal
. Discuss anything you like not Quirky related -

When you are on the Get Satisfaction site, there doesn't seem to be a link to get back to the Quirky site, or at least I don't see it.

Can't the Quirky website put Get Satisfaction directly into their site? I find Get Satisfaction useful, but it is at a different website and a pain to go through the forum to look for answers and then to here to find answers. Have Get Satisfaction within the Quirky website. It's crazy to have to go to 2 different sites to find answers or ask questions. New people don't even know it exists!
