Hey Robert, thanks for getting in touch!

Quirky does occasionally award influence for comments left during the evaluation phase, but this is done on a case-by-case basis, so it doesn't represent the best way to earn influence on the site.

The best way to earn influence is through participation in development projects: these can be found in the grey column on the left side of the Quirky "Participate" page. Currently, we have one research project live, along with several design projects, but these are constantly changing as ideas come and go through the development process. These projects can vary from Market Research, involving general surveys, to a Concept Phase, where community members submit ideas for improving a feature or function. Another type of project involves branding, where users can submit and vote on ideas for product names and taglines. The breakdown on influence for these projects is as such:

    - If a project simply involves the acquisition of information, (e.g. a survey), then any participant is entitled to a portion of the influence.
    - If a project is a competition, e.g. the search for a product name, then only the members who submitted and voted for the winning features will receive influence.

Thus, while it is harder to earn influence for one of the projects in a competition format, the potential share of influence you can earn is much greater. It's a matter of risk/reward, essentially!

A final way to earn influence is through the Pricing Game, available through the "Upcoming" section on the site. Complete the market research questions for either of the two most recent products in this section (they are the two displayed with timers), and you will earn a portion of influence on that product!

Thanks so much for your patience Rob, I hope that this was helpful! If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
