i like to suggest a new game, submission trivia, a game which shall put more attention to lost\buried submissions, hidden in the deep jungle of the submission-pool after 2 or more days of life.
.
i noticed that the trivia game on twitter is working well, so why not doing this for the submissions. here is how it shall work:
.
every week Q if pulling randomly one submission and is asking specific question about it, questions so specific that only someone who has really read the submission, or has seen the visuals, can give to correct answer to it.
.
the first correct answer wins.
the price could be:
- 5 free submissions
or
- a certain number of influence on the next winning idea (maybe %0.05 or %0.1).
or
- the chance to participate as a pre-tester of prototypes of a new product (that would be my fav to get into such thing)
.
the advantages of such a new game would be,
- a more engaged and knowledgeable community
- more attention for ALL ideas in the pool, more fair evaluation for everybody
It is time for 'submission trivia', a game to bring buried ideas back to attention

Hey Wunderlicht. While I like your fun-oriented thinking, I'm not sure the game you propose would work to further the goals of Quirky. We want users to look through ideas and vote for the ones that they really see potential in. Driving users to search for a chosen idea based on clues could broaden attention to all ideas. But more likely, people would use the search function to locate that idea based on key words - thus defeating the purpose. Also, similar submissions would cause problems. And influence will only ever be rewarded for making a viable contribution to a final product. If the rules were worked out, this could potentially work as a community-driven game. Just for fun - no Q-sponsered prizes. But as proposed, this won't be an official planned solution for Quirky.

Hi Bobby, i think there are easy solutions for those problems (better lets say challenges).
.
use of search function
- in order to make it not too easy the answers to the specific question should not be available just by using the search function. The questions should describe the idea or visuals with other words.
- nice side-effect would be that more and more users are getting familiar with the search function as a tool to look thing up.
.
similar submissions
- hey who is saying life is not a gamble? the first user who is giving the correct answer is winning.
.
influence not as a price
- i am getting the point, but there are so many other price-options to think of to substitute this. i have named some of those options, i am sure there are more.

In order to make this work, there has to be a price, i think. I am sure Q can make this happening...i still have hope ;-) -
