OK, educate me. Isn't the point of "marketing" to attract buyers?

If so, then I'd be interested to know Quirky's analysis vis-a-vis the number of shoppers attracted to Quirky by "PS: WTF IS A STOCKING?" vs. the number of shoppers repelled.

Common sense says that many, many more shoppers will be repelled than attracted. (After all, we did re-elect Bush.)

If Quirky rejects common sense, then I would be interested to know why.
