Mentioned during the 2011 Q3 Town Meeting: a Quirky Conference in NYC, with speakers talking about inventing, collaborative ideation like Moneyball, etc.

Count me in. I'm already planning a Quirky-based class for next semester. Next summer, I might be able to bring some students. We're really pushing innovation on our campus. This would be great. Might I also suggest streaming the talks at the campus for those who are unable to attend in person?
Great job on getting this together.
.
@Bobby: I'm also organizing a TED-inspired conference on campus next semester. I've already sent out a few invitations to Quirky but haven't heard back. If Ben or anyone else there would be interested in delivering a quick, TED-like presentation to a college campus, please let me know. I'd love to have you. -

I like the idea but does it have to be in NYC?

How about an annual thing in Las Vegas! -

Yes, I'd plan to attend. I think there is some real talent among our own community that we could utilize. Approach select community members to do seminars of interest on topics of -Sketching your idea 3-D, Social Media 101 , Increasing your
product links to actual presale $$$ on Twitter and Facebook, etc. , or you get the idea.

I would love to attend and learn more about the behind the scenes process. Also, copyright, patents, legal issues, advertising and marketing.
Cost to attend should be reasonable so that a regular person like me can afford to pay for travel and accommodations. -

Hesitatingly Interested. Rather go somewhere besides NYC though. You know...a fun place. KaKUKUKUKUKUKUK

Great idea! NYC would be an ideal place for the conference. Also, why not an "idea busting" session-all attendees would be welcome to submit ideas "live" and get immediate feedback from Ben and the design staff. Maybe a 24 hour contest to come up with an idea. Best presentation wins a prize (maybe a Quirky produced product from the shop; influence points/$; power lunch with Ben!

I need a vacation about then, so why not with other like minded Quirks.

I still think it should be an open to the public event so those folks can buy some of the products and meet the inventors. Right before Christmas too! How about a Quirky Christmas Catalog sponsored by Target!! Imagine an arena filled with booths piled high with the stuff piled high in Q's warehouses. Load those trucks up, build some displays, get the inventors on hand and sell sell sell. Then have break outs and classes on the invention idea. Ben can show up in his khakis and sandals sign autographs, Gaz can talk with his Britishy accent and so forth! I bet 30,000 people would show up if it was promoted right. We have several event a year in Charlotte NC like the Southern Women's show that attracts thousands of folks flush with cash to spend!

I think this would be awesome and would seriously consider attending!
I think quirky is just getting started and will be continuing for many years to come. Why couldn't you pattern the yearly meetings after Warren Buffett and call them annual meetings. Years from now you will still have the "originals" attending. -

I love NYC, but it's so expensive. I second the motion on Vegas as a location.
R.L - an idea busting session for designers is called a "Charrette", they're hella fun and often very productive! -

If you decide to head to Texas (my direction) I'll suggest Austin, or Dallas/Ft. Worth
but, I'll come to NYC if it is there. Just give us advance notice so we can get good airfares

I would think we could all stay at the new Quirky building in Fort Factories. We all bring sleeping bags and create a product overnight. Line the street with quirky products and their ideators and take NYC by storm.
Have a blow up of Jake in the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. Ben can hold all the ropes. while we pass out quirky products, wrapsters, etc.-
Somebody please draw this.

I just want this conference to be focused on me, about me, photos of me, video of me, interviews with me, and in general just me doing stuff while people look on in horror. That or Inventoff where we all compete and film it and then it airs on Bravo after RHOBH!

NY works for me...I live there and would love to meet fellow Quirkians!!!
