Quirky should pay cash for comments

Quirky could pay 1 or 2 pennies for each comment. Have a reqirement of 10 words or more and only 1 paid comment per product idea and a limit of 50 paid comments on each product and have community rate comments to decide how much money is paid for each comment. This would make the value of an idea submission go up because of more comments, so more sumbissions would come in. Because of more commenting people would see more of the product ideas and vote better. Because of that quirky might make a better product that sells more. Plus the community can make some easy cash without having to wait for products to launch. So what do you think?

Hey Jess. Thanks for reaching out and suggesting this. We're always looking for ways to award users who leave meaningful feedback in ideations--and to be honest we haven't done it well in the past, but we're trying. Meaningful and constructive comments will definitely help us create a better product together. Unfortunately, that being said, when we come up with solutions we will probably still stick to leveraging influence as awards.

Maybe this could be scaled with influence somehow, but the inherent problem with paying out cash for comments is that it'll be difficult to set up a system where we can determine, for example, that the 10 words are meaningful and not just 10 random words. While the community voting up and down comments sounds like it would work, it's appears that it would be difficult to ensure that comments are voted on in each and every one of the submissions.

We'll definitely keep this in mind moving forward to see if this might spark some thoughts on other ways we can build out this part of the evaluation.

You could just pay for the best comments. That way not all comments have to be voted on. I think there may be less influence to go around in the future if Quirky gets a lot more people participating. So in the future paying people for comments may work better.
