Presales/Social Sales on new system
So, is social sales only based on active products now? Is there no social sales on Presales items? What happens with the social sales on the items still in presales?

Yes, since we're no longer running the presales platform, social sales will solely be based on active products. There will no longer be social sales opportunities for "presale products". Social sales that were accumulated during the old system will be honored and awarded and all past data has been tracked and is accurate.

Where is the social sales button for active products? No one seems to be able to find it; is this an orversight with all the changes or a decision to eliminate it?

Ben said that all presale commitments that were already made can still be carried out once the product ships and will be awarded influence as they used to in the old system.
My question is though, how will the influence awarded be the same? It used to be the remaining percentages that weren ́t used up in other rounds, mostly roughly 20-30% were split up between all who those purchased their presale commitment.
But with the new system there is more influence being awarded, both for the pricing game and those who participated in the pricing game and afterwards purchase the product right after its release.
So how much influence is being awarded for the pricing game and the purchase without commitment?
And how much influence will be left for us who still have commitments and are willing to purchase those?
I am worried there will be much less influence left, and it will become very unattractive to follow through with presale commitments?
Hope I ́m wrong!

Yep, all presale commitments and influence earnings will be honored.

I mean the actual price -- not just the commitments.

I'm also unclear as to whether we're earning any influence for playing the pricing game, or only earning influence if we also preorder.
Don't get me wrong -- it's a fun game. Just want to know how to best spend my time on Q.

Would you clarify how? (This is why I posted a separate question.) Will you share the influence %age? Is answering the one question worth anything, or just the four-question "game"? Thanks!

Bottom line: Is this worth my time...time being money? :-)

From what seems to be said above by Andy, the previous percentages will remain the same and not change regardless of the game playing for pricing on the items already priced and in presale.
If this is correct please confirm.
If not please specify what will be changing. EX) Dilution of remaining influence pool to compensate others for pricing game for items already in presale etc
Also maybe a basic question will help figure the new presale system out:
Will the new presale influence system work similar to this?
a) part of the left over influence be given to those that play the pricing game for each item
b) then the left over influence will be divided up between those that order when the item is moved into production and people commit to a purchase, order and pay before a certain .
c) The end -

How do I place an order for a pre-sale?
All I get is the Quirky pricing game and even after finishing it I still dont see any place to order for a pre-sale.

I still don't understand the answer to this question:
.
Let's use COVERT. It had 24.5% influence left over for Presale Influence. With a threshold of 1000, each presale purchase was worth .0245%. So an order of 25 units was worth .6125%
.
How will that change when the 'Pricing Game" influence is taken into account?
.
QUESTION -- If I already committed to 25 Coverts, and I play the pricing game, will I get .6125% influence when it goes into production?
.
Yes or No? -
-
Nice Patti D! If that can't get a yes or no answer then nothing will! :)

Patti - I'm afraid that we're not going to like the answer.
Not to sound like a whiny baby... I've spent two years racking up a hefty balance, much of which due to social sales. I've taken that money to invest in products so that I can earn more influence. My ideas are not striking gold here, but I'm pleased with my influence from those commitments. Taking away presale commitments and earning practically nothing on voted ideas basically sucks. In the past, I would feel comfortable telling others to join Quirky so that they could earn influence. That's no longer the case. My overall influence has plummeted with the new system. I welcome all the new members. However, I miss the fun of a smaller crowd. -

@ Sandi: same problem here, I don't understand why they took the presale from us:-(
@Patti: Thanks for posting the question again! Someone from the QS needs to answer it! -

Bring presales influence back!!! It was a good way to earn extra influence (especially since so little influence is being earned these days on voting).

I agree with you, Stazy -- 100% .... 1000% I do appreciate the efforts Quirky is undertaking to make evaluation more fair. However, longtime/loyal community members are getting screwed. The new members (who are great, btw), never got a taste of what earning real influence means. I would, absolutely, provide a guaranteed payment to Quirky for any commitments to presale items I would make. This isn't rocket science, but it's quite clear a change should be made.

I agree with you two above. I have nearly quit looking at ideas after my test of the vote influence went as expected. I only cast 22 total votes over a 11 day period for the last time I picked a winning idea. It gave me no more influence than when I picked about 300 of them. That tells me why waste the time for nothing. I'd like to see what the vote counts have gone to per person. I'd have to guess that how many votes you cast may make some difference but very little when you look at others that have voted and get 0.3-2% for their vote. The initial few people voting seem to get more from those who I have talked to as well as potentially a couple other ways to sway the system and that is not a good thing. Unless everyone knows what those methods are and they are fair in the end, the system is broken.
The upside I am now spending my time on other worthwhile things like a new venture that will in the end be far better than what little will be gained here.
Oh and yeah, now I'm indifferent because I just don't care either way anymore and any business should realize that's a really bad thing.
My favorite part is how I have now tried 4 times to get this to reply in the GS forum. -
