Stats on your social sellers

I would love to see some stats on who is doing the social selling. I know of a few folks doing it but I'm sure that there are many others. I'm not looking for specifics - maybe just the top or 20 people. Perhaps, they would be willing to share some of their own tips in the Forum. Thanks!

Hey Sandi, we're open to the possibilities. I'd love to hear what more people think of this idea, and what people hope to gain from it.

  • Maybe you can post a blog directing people here to weigh in? My quick thoughts --
1 - Newbies aren't familiar with the benefits of social selling
2 - Social sales or Direct sales reaps the community 30% vs 10% (indirect) cut
3 - Each and every 10% commission adds up (assuming folks don't cancel orders -- argh)
4 - Many folks are competitive by nature

Cons - Some people don't want to share their sales figures. Names could be hidden.

You can also make it a more general update that crawls on the screen - The top 10 quirks sold 358 units resulting in $X that goes into the pockets of the community.

Sounds cool, I love how you're providing iterations on your idea!

Please do ask your fellow Quirks to come chime in, and I'll see if Jess has room in the blog schedule for a post about this. We try to balance the amount of info so it's not overwhelming.

I started social sales seriously in Jan. 2011. Not sure what ideas or commitments mean. Maybe you can elaborate on that .

I have created a website as a bridge to quirky called quirkygiftshop. I can use that to educate and use my social code. I am not sure how effective it is. It is kind of corny, but it has potential i think.

I believe i have been most productive through Twitter and FB. As you can see it is very difficult to land the fish.

I am going to work on Linkedin.

I haven't had a chance to make a fan page for specific items. I know Jared has some great fan pages for products.

What i also would like to do is find a number of forums that would be logical places to sell specific products and/or getting bloggers to push the products.

What would be helpful is some way to know where the most activity comes from. I would think that the info is captured by quirky under our social code otherwise they would not be able to give us the status in the first place. We could then work those sites more.

indifferent I’m Thinking about your pocketbook
Quirky needs a profitability framework guiding them when they choose products that will take into account the incentive required to assist social sellers or as I like the call them the social seller army, to make good money on products.

Sandi the truth is that you would be making 20% or more selling for other companies with a drop shipping model, and people make very good money doing this, we have a number of people selling our boots this way. With an average sales of $150 and a commission of 20% it is a better deal than Q are offering.

Q need original, can't get anywhere else ideas that are sitting above $20 to help make you money.

So far, I'm hearing interest in stats on top social sellers and the top places for social sales success (Facebook vs. Twitter, etc.). Any more suggestions for info that could inspire and help community members?

You should also check out a guest blog post by Quirky's #1 social seller. It gives great advice that everyone can benefit from.
